Bad Lemon Productions is an independent film production company just outside of Baltimore, MD specializing in horror films and psychological thrillers founded by John Shade.
John Shade was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland, where the majority of his youth was focused on competitive swimming. He was nationally ranked and a State Record holder by the time he graduated from high school, before relocating to Philadelphia where he attended college at LaSalle University on a swimming scholarship and majored in Political Science. After college John moved to Baltimore to attend law school at the University of Maryland. John graduated from law school in 1995 and spent the next several years working as an attorney for an Aviation Insurance company, managing litigation around the country. It was during this time that John first began to seriously write and had two short plays produced by the award-winning City Theater Company in Wilmington, Delaware. One of the plays, “Scene 42,” was a huge hit and was produced a second time as part of City Theater’s “The 8 Greatest Plays of All Time!” After being diagnosed with (and beating) cancer in 2006, John – with the encouragement of his wife – decided to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker.
Bad Lemon Productions’ first movie, “The Serpent’s Tongue,” has been named an Official Selection of the Action on Film International Film Festival in California and the Horrorfind Film Festival in Pennsylvania. It also won the award of Best Screenplay at the Horrorfind Film Festival.
